Frontier Buccaneers - 360 VR Experience by johnsonting
Frontier Buccaneers - 360 VR Experience

Unfortunately deviantart doesn't support marmoset to view the painting in 360, so I gotta redirect you guys to my artstation or my facebook link to view it:
www.artstation.com/artwork/r2x…
www.facebook.com/johnson.ting.…

Bought Jama's 360 painting tutorial the other day and wanted to test it out using existing paintings. Figured it could be a good chance to show a scene like this with the space pirates! What a great platform to do some concept story telling, cant wait to keep trying stuffs out, hope you guys enjoy this!

Here's Jama super helpful tutorial if you're interested:

Neo Japan 2202 - Phantom confrontation by johnsonting
Neo Japan 2202 - Phantom confrontation
Another piece for Neo Japan, this was resting in the WIP for awhile now, plan was to illustrate a scene I had written down.

"A scene where Kazuko has sabotaged one of her fathers factories but unintentionally claimed a couple of innocent lives during the event. The seventh Phantom arrived but was too late, he was trying to save as much survivors as he can, burning men clung onto him to end their lives, blooded handprints all over his body. With lives dissapearing infront of his eyes, he grows angrier, unable to understand why it has to come to this. Kazuko was the one responsible for this, and he knew that he has to confront her, now or never. Then he finally found her.

On the ground, surrounded by fires while holding a lifeless body in her arms, the body of Dr. Matsumoto, a fatherly figure for Kazuko, the one who designed and gifted her with her mechanical arms, now lies dead because she wasn't quick enough. It all seem too familiar to her.

Now, Kazuko has to confront her phantom."

You can check out another "film" version of it on my artstation :P

Tutorial Ideas, anyone?

Sun May 24, 2015, 9:05 PM
Hey guys! Been awhile since I've updated my journal, here are some status updates:

The book for Neo Japan 2202 is on hold for now, due to personal reasons and I didn't want to rush it out, and I'm working on another book right now so I gotta make time for that first. :D The book will be announced in a couple of months time, it's gonna be a collaboration with a lot of great artists so hang tight!

I'll drop anymore updates about the book if there's any, so for now I'm gonna keep posting snippets of Neo Japan from time to time.

So main topic:

Thank you guys so much for the views! You guys are the best :D I've been reading the comments and sorry I havent gotten to reply them, i'll do so soon! Rushing some projects recently so be kind D:

Anyways, gonna do a tutorial but I figure it's best if you guys can let me know what your thoughts are, what your questions are and what sort of tutorial you would like to see, let me know in the comments! For me to get some ideas and share some of my painting processes.

As for my brushes, Ive uploaded it a while ago so I'm gonna put it here incase you're looking for it:
Johnson Ting Brush Pack V1.1 - Notes by johnsonting just click on the thumbnail and it'll link you there.

Thanks guys! Let me know your thoughts :D

If Neo Japan 2202 were made into a book, a compilation of the artworks along with all the information and back-story. Would you buy it? Details are in my journal! All help is greatly appreciated!

I definitely think you should do more "enhanced" people - you know, cybernetic upgrades like robotic arms/legs, bionic eyes, implants, all that cool stuff. The Milky Overdrive with the lady that has the hardcore looking robo arms was freaking awesome.
