Why do I feel that this should be wielded by a semi-naked sign-armor clad bald man blaring poor quality music through his muppet mouth?

Lots of people getting technical on whether or not that could actually work. I don't want to sound too mean about it, but it seems to me that some folks are just flexing their "know-it-all" muscles. I could see this being a really awesome fantasy weapon at the very least.

Amazing design, and awesome textures! This is a really cool concept!

You can already see the difference between realistic and fantasy in the picture itself though. Far right with flames is the fantasy, and just left of it is what would really happen. I think Dead Rising 2 had the most believable makeshift weapons I've seen in games/media, but fantasy can be just as interesting.

Coca-Cola IS the perfect fuel for making fire swords!

It's pretty impractical imo, but just a silly idea and leaning more towards the cosmetic side. Well who knows, maybe you could sink the sword into the enemy first then throttle the flame!

The sword has enough mas to go through most armor and the fire can ignite the padding underneath. Also a cut can be stitched shut but a burn wile it dose stop the bleeding is harder to heal.

I'm guessing you don't know much about armor. No sword in existence can cut through armor, most can barely dent it; you can pierce a good breastplate with the proper blade profile and putting all of your strength into the thrust, but even then, it'll only go about a half inch or so in, which isn't even enough to pierce the padding below (to say nothing of the fact it'd then be stuck, leaving you open to a counterattack). Even if a sword could have the mass required to split plate armor, it would probably have to be in the ballpark of at least 20lbs, which is far too heavy to wield properly (for the record, most longswords average close to 3lbs). Why bother with something like that when your typical poleaxe, aka the Knightly Can Opener, weighs in at about 4lbs, has greater reach, greater versatility, and is easier to use?

I am well aware of the properties of existing swords. But this is probably twice as thick and twice as wide as any longsword. It is in no way practical and wieldable in real life. I'm just saying it probably could cut armor.
In practice I guess it could work on intimidation and executions but that's it.

Unlikely. As you surmise, it's probably twice as thick and twice as wide as a longsword... And? It has a very short bevel, and likely no distal taper whatsoever, meaning it's far heavier than it really needs to be. It could possibly cut a rather thin gambeson, but it would never cut plate armor; crush it, perhaps, but if that's all you're after, a mace or warhammer achieves the same thing in a far lighter and more maneuverable package.

I could see it working as an intimidation factor, but anyone who lets themselves be intimated by their opponent's weapon has no business in a fight in the first place, so it's really only good for terrifying unarmed civilians; executions render the blade to a strictly ceremonial position wherein it can showcase the owner's power, in which case, wouldn't something fancier and highly decorated be better? That's what was often done with executioner's swords during the renaissance, after all.

That said, if the weapon were to assume roughly similar proportions (thickness, width, distal tapering) as, say, the Uruk swords from the Lord of the Rings movies, it could be a pretty fearsome weapon and, if you were to go to the extra effort to ensure that the jets were producing a cool flame and angled them so only radiant heat was touching the edge, you could even keep the flame jets without utterly ruining the blade's temper; it's just a lot of work for a weapon that isn't terribly good at its job and has inherent risks (and I'm saying that despite the Shishkebab being one of my favorite melee weapons in the Fallout world).

I doubt this weapon will be very useful. It wouldn't probably go through any armor because high temperature would soften the blade and untemper the steel quite quickly. :P

If it's heavy enough it doesn't have to be sharp the mas itself will split the armor. This is at best a limited use weapon the blade would need replacing regularly. You can see in the picture that the edge is chipped and not very sharp.

Well, I said nothing about being sharp. :P
I just meant that when it gets untempered it'll be soft and will deform easily. And I guess you don't want your weapon to bend like it's made of clay. :D
However, sure, it would do some damage anyway.
